Table 1: "Rethinking Social Policy" by Christopher Jencks. The numbers are as stated by Jencks who is citing numbers from the National Opinion Research Center of the University of Chicago.

Percentage of Jews in Population: The ADL website at adl.org. This is smaller than the usual estimate of 3%. The ADL reports that while Jews used to be 3%, they have since declined to 2.4%.

Percentage of Asians in Population: common estimate found in many sources. Sometimes given as 4% when Pacific Islanders are included. The differing definitions of "Asian" create differing estimates.

Percent of Country which is white: 70% is the common figure. Sometimes given as 80% when Hispanics are included as white. U.S. Government statistics routinely include Hispanics as white.

Table 2: per capita GNP for Puerto Rico comes from the CIA World Fact Book for 2000. URL is http://www.odci.gov/cia/publications/factbook/index.html. All other per capita GNP figures are from the World Bank and are for 1999. The URL is http://www.worldbank.org/data/databytopic/GNPPC.pdf. Average income for U.S. races was gained by applying the percentages from Table 1 to the current U.S. per capita GNP. I believe this is the best way to compare income of U.S. races to income of foreign countries. When comparing these results to government statistics bear in mind that the government routinely uses median income instead of average income and household income instead of individual income. Median incomes are always lower than average incomes and average household size is different for every race. One can gauge the accuracy of these figures by comparing them to these figures from the Census Bureau for 1999 for people over the age of 15(http://www.census.gov/prod/2000pubs/p60-209.pdf): Black = $22,732, White = $31,707, Hispanic = $19,961.

The average income of the white race world wide was derived from the average per capita GNP's(from World Bank) for these countries: Albania, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Czech Rep., Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine. Additionally an estimate of the white population and white income for the U.S. was used assuming whites are 70% of U.S. and make 1.11 of average.
