This site exists to discuss the idea that one's voluntarily chosen beliefs can increase or decrease one's success in life. This is a controversial idea, but that in no way justifies censorship, including voluntary censorship. The current dominant view is that culture and ideas have no effect on success and that groups rise or fall due to their ability to commandeer resources, not their own efforts. This is easily disproven, as we all know. The difficult part is offering an alternative, which I intend to do.

The idea that voluntary beliefs influence success was not controversial until the last 200 years. Before this there was no conflict over whether or not certain cultures were more successful or whether ideas could affect success. It was assumed that ideas could affect success and this was treated as an obvious fact, not a controversial opinion. In the current period this has changed, and the original responsibility for these changes can best be assigned to Karl Marx and Arthur Gobineau. The time period since belief in the importance of culture and ideas has disappeared has been the bloodiest and most hate-filled in the history of the world. Well over 100 million have been killed and this era has seen so many innovations in the practice of evil that we have had to invent a new terminology to discuss it and now have words such as genocide which were unneeded during all the history that came before us.

Nazism is usually described as being the furthest opposite of Communism, but both systems blamed a wealthy enemy for all the worlds problems and both claimed all productive and creative effort was uniquely done by the in-group. The Jews were not merely perceived as being wealthier by their enemies, but were in fact wealthier. Studies of Weimar tax returns show that the Jews of Germany were 100% richer than average. The Tutsis and the Armenians are also known to have been wealthier than the Hutus and Turks at the time of their genocides. All Communist slaughters have openly targeted their victims on the basis of wealth. The death toll from all this is too high and it is time to learn from these horrors, not add to them.

In addition to horrible slaughters that have resulted from demonizing success there is the pain inflicted on the unsuccessful through deception. There is no explanation for why Chile, a peaceful country which is 95% white, has a per capita income half that of Japan, a non-white country which has been nuked twice, other than the voluntarily chosen beliefs of the two populations. By refusing to speak openly of how culture and ideas affect success we are taking away what little the have-nots have and giving even more to the haves. Whatever advantages the wealthy cultural groupings of the world have over others is only being magnified by the current scheme of censoring any discussion of the connection between culture and success.

What I find saddest about the way discussion of these things is repressed is the absence of any real disagreement among the outwardly warring parties. One of the reasons I am so interested in these issues is my background. My father is Irish, and they are the wealthiest white ethnic group in America, and my mother is Puerto Rican, and they are the poorest non-white group in America. Whatever disagreements whites and blacks may claim to have on the affect of culture on success while in public disappear once the doors are shut tight and people are among those they trust. None of the people who claim that all cultures are equally successful truly believe this. What they most often believe is that self-esteem is the key to success and therefore claiming that one's culture is conducive to success is conducive to future success, even if not currently true. It is seeing how little disagreement there is in people's privately held beliefs which makes me want to people to discuss this issue publicly, and is why I started this website.
